I made an appointment to apply for a credit card last week, and they told me to come today. So I went, and guess what they said: "We're sorry, but we can't make the credit card for you today". Idiots. It turns out I need a credit rating for my current account, where as in my case the rating was zero. I pointed out to them that I had money in my savings account, but No, sorry sir, it needs to be your current account... Now, why didn't anybody tell me this earlier? Idiots.
See, thats the problem of being an International Student in the UK. They don't trust you. No matter what you do, no matter how well behaved you are, they'll always find a means to tell you that they can't offer you this or that service, just because you're an International Student. I can't take this anymore. It's getting too annoying for my taking.. So that's a lesson for all you folks out there who really want to study here in the UK. My advice, you're better off staying put where you are. There's nothing special about studying overseas and being treated like trash. So there, I've said it. Thanks for reading.

SMSA, SMSA, SMSA + Ramadhan!
God, this last week has been so busy that I've hardly even had time to blog. Sorry to my avid blog admirer Zafriza, but since she's been out with the flu as well, she probably wouldn't have been able to check out my blog anyway. But anyway, things happened last week, starting with:
Freshers Camp, which took place at Rother Valley Park. There were activities such as canoeing, bicylcling and water skiing. I couldn't be bothered to take up the water activities on such a cold day, so I just rented a bike and went round the place. This camp was actually for the juniors so that they could get a feel of the outdoors, and just have a day trip away from their respective residences with other juniors as well as seniors in Sheffield. Here's a pic:
More pics of the Fresher's Camp can be found at zuhri.multiply.com
Then, after a tiring day out, the following day, SMSA organised a 40n4 street soccer challenge!
I played for one of the teams, and though our participation was purely for fun, we ended up making it to the finals, beating even the more fancier teams! We must have been lucky as our team had never played together b4, and the team was even lacking players!
As usual, I got on the scoresheets quite a few times, I guess I scored like 5 goals in 6 games or sumthing, not bad eh? haha. but i also sprained my ankle quite bad, but forced myself to play through the pain (kinda regretting it now).. Pics for your viewing pleasure:

As if that wasn't enough already for the day, there was also the Get to Know Party on the afternoon. This was held to gather as many current students in Sheffield to get to know their juniors (the SMSA members only la). I was in charge of registration and had to fascilitate a group. But overall, it was fun. Another pic:

So, there it is for you. A busy weekend, which was followed by the official beginning of classes and lectures. Boy, it was just non-stop. And now, it's Ramadhan, and we've fasted for 4 days including today, which means we started earlier than everybody back in Malaysia. Speaking of which, I miss breaking fast with my Zafriza...Though we've only done it once, still miss it.. Hehe, actually, miss her too, and hopes she gets well soon coz she needs to start fasting soon, and she's got finals coming up! Good luck babe, my prayers are always for ur success!
Hope everyone else enjoys the month of Ramadhan as well, and take the opportunity to increase our good deeds, stop the bad and inch closer to the Lord Almighty's greatest reward...

My most recent picture
I think I might start blogging seriously. Maybe.. Just maybe..
The internet has come a long way since it started in the early 1990's, to it now being such a large source of information. The neverending changes are just too much that I think I've finally had enough. I no longer enjoy surfing the internet, say as much as i did 3-4 years ago. It seems that when you have access to all the information you need at the end of your fingertips, it just isn't as satisfying.
Therefore, I have recently been attracted again to the activity of blogging. Sharing your real life experiences and just letting the world know what you think about anything at all may actually seem like a cool thing to do...Mind you, I opened this blogger account about 2 years ago, but never had the intention to actually blog on a continual basis. However, when my girlfriend Zafriza started her own blog a month ago, I was duely encouraged again to pursue my own blog; hmm, actually to continue my own blog which hadn't been updated for ages.
So, here I am, at the crossroads again. Should I actually give blogging a try? Or should I just forget about it and get on with my life, although I especially enjoy reading my Zafriza's blog, which can be seen at http://zafrizazin.blogspot.com/ She's given me hope again that blogging may be that final frontier on the net that I haven't explored (OK, over exaggeration here).
I will make up my decision in a few days. Or so. We'll see how things go, what with classes starting next week, I'll be back to being a busy, busy medical student. I'll just have to see if I have time to post up my medical student life experiences on a daily basis (of which i pretty much doubt anyway)... Take care now, bye bye then.

I failed to update the blog..
I failed miserably to update this blog. It's been more than a year since my last post. I can't really explain this feeling, but it feels that one year of my life, this past year, has gone past so fast without much meaning. I feel that I haven't developed as much as I would have liked, on a personal level. Yeah, sure I passed first year of medical school. But on the whole, I don't think that I've actually learned much. I've managed to fit in with the local crowd, though it did take a while to. Overall, it has been a fun experience living here. A short recap of what happened over the year:
September 04 - Arrival in Sheffield and Uni registration
October - Striving...heheh..getting grips to life as a lone ranger
November - Nottingham Games: Quarter finalists... I score 4 goals in 4 games.. hehe
December - Christmas holidays..Manchester trip..
January - Don't remember much of it. It was a cold month. I think i kind of slept mostly..
February - Yet another one of those forgettable months.
March - Ah...things happened in this month. My 21st birthday, celebrated alone. Then, all the fun: Sheffield Games: Quarter finals - 6 goals in 5 games
Manchester Sports Carnival Quarter Finals - 3 games played, no goals
then, the big one: Warwick Games: Champions! 1 goal, 1 penalty, 2/3 assists!
Yes, it was a very happening month
April - ah..holiday time again, this time to Paris and London!
May - exam fever. Right after exams, Liverpool win the Champions League, and off to Liverpool for the parade! Crazy, once in a lifetime experience!!!
June - waiting anxiously for result...and when they come out; i pass!!! Thank God.
Now waiting to head home to Malaysia..
I havent mentioned about studies much..that's because i hardly did any. But i pledge to improve on this next year. Oh yes, next year will be different. It'll be much tougher. And i'll be wiser. And i'll have to pass 2nd year. But that's a different story now isn't it.. We'll see when we get there..
